A Medieval old town situated on the Rhone River, Beaucaire is a French commune in the Gard department in the Occitanie region of Southern France. The locals take enormous pride with the commune, having been awarded One Flower by the National Council of Towns and Villages competition, Bloom. With plenty of history to discover, chateaus Abbayes and local Cusine there is plenty to explore. An intriguing place with 17th-c historic sites, filled with nice squares, ancient churches, and several 17th- and 18th-century architecture, very grand townhouses of the successful merchants of the day and a curious nearby troglodyte abbey carved into the rocks.
